For the last three summers we have sent our two boys [now 13 and 15] to Camp Bellaleo. They love it and would not think of going to any other camp! When we ask them why, they tell us " it's just so much fun and the people are great". They like the fact that everyone gets to know each other really well. They feel that because they are in boy's camp [in July] they can be goofy, wear what they want and be themselves. Swimming, canoeing, sports, drama and special events makes time fly by! As parents we are impressed with the staff to camper ratio. Many of the staff have been campers that return year after year. That speaks for itself! We can't say enough about Jay Haddad, the camp director who has led this camp for many years. He instils leadership qualities in the campers while providing a safe nurturing environment. Whether it is around a campfire, walking through the camp or in his weekly talks on Chapel hill, he leads by example and the conversation is stimulating. At this camp, individuality is valued and respected. In our competitive society this is a place where children can relax, be themselves and yet still be encouraged to do their best. Jay, together with his wonderful wife Vicki, make this camp their home every summer. Our boys feel that this camp is their "home away from home"..the best of both worlds!
